This curved face accepts hooks and uppercuts at the angle they arrive, so a coach runs a full combination without turning their wrist into the shot. A padded ball sits in the palm and absorbs what comes through, and a leather finger cover protects the hand that has to hold a target still while a heavyweight puts a cross through it. Hook-and-loop closure adjusts to the coach wearing them, which matters when three coaches share one pair.
