You buy a crash mat for the landings you did not plan.

2290 x 1370mm of 16-density foam, in two depths. The 400mm mat is the one for standing-height work: takedown practice, throws, dismounts and anything where a body arrives fast and flat. The 200mm mat suits lower-level drills, a landing zone under a bar, or a soft area beside a mat floor. Sixteen density describes how the foam compresses under a body arriving at speed. Pressing a hand on the surface tells you nothing useful. We make these to order, so allow two weeks from the day you place it.

Who buys this

Boxing and MMA clubs teaching falls and takedowns, gymnastics programmes, and school sports departments. Confirm your governing body's landing-area requirements before you order, since depth and coverage rules differ between codes.

Order the depth your drills call for, and allow the two weeks.
